The leak has stopped. The new wiring is working. The contractor has packed up and left.
But there is still a hole in your ceiling.
Getting the original problem fixed is a relief. Finding out you need someone else to finish the wall or ceiling can be frustrating—especially when you thought the job was nearly over.
I’m Chris, the owner of Fast Patch Drywall Repair. I help Bergen County homeowners put their walls and ceilings back together after plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and similar work.
Accessing the Problem and Repairing the Opening Are Different Jobs
A plumber or electrician may need to cut through drywall to reach the equipment behind it. Closing and finishing that opening may not be included in their work.
That does not necessarily mean someone has left their job unfinished. It means there is another part of the project that still needs attention.
Fast Patch handles that next step: repairing the opening, taping and finishing the patch, and preparing the surface for painting.
You Don’t Need a Whole Renovation to Get One Hole Repaired
An opening in a kitchen ceiling or a bedroom wall can be a small job on paper and a daily annoyance in practice.
You should not have to turn it into a larger remodeling project just to get someone interested.
Small and midsize repairs in existing homes are the kind of work I focus on. You can contact me about the damaged area itself, without needing a whole room renovated.
A Few Good Photos Help Get Things Started
Start with a close-up showing the damage, then take another photo from farther back so I can see where it sits in the room.
Include your town and a brief description of the work that created the opening. For a ceiling repair, an approximate ceiling height is helpful. Mention any nearby lights, cabinets, or other features that might affect access.
For leak-related damage, let me know whether the leak has been repaired and whether the area is still damp.
Those details help us have a useful conversation about the repair instead of guessing from a picture that is too close to show the situation.
Be Clear About the Finishing Step
When we discuss the job, let me know whether you need the repair left ready for painting or would also like painting considered in the quote.
That way, we can agree on what is included from the beginning. The point is to avoid another round of, “I thought that was part of the job.”
